The metal detection technology of the device is based on a special pulse induction technology called Pulse GBS (Pulse GBS).
The working principle is that the current generated by the battery passing through the search coils through the copper coils produces a short intense magnetic pulse. These magnetic pulses produce currents in conductive materials such as metal objects, for example a gold coin, and the eddy currents will remain in the metal object and will gradually fade away after the magnetic pulse emitted by the search coil is stopped.
This is why it is possible to detect these eddy currents using the Lorenz Z2 detector via the search coil itself.
Rather complex electronic circuitry is necessary to detect those small changes in voltage and the signal must be amplified to drive an audio stage using a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), which outputs an audio signal through the headphones.
The Pulse GBS (Ground Balance System) in the Lorenz z2 is particularly suitable for searching at great depths. The performance of this electronic device is virtually unaffected by salt water, most types of mineral surfaces or temperature changes.
PST (Pulse Shaping Technology) has been added to improve performance and depth capabilities. Complete power management with efficient low-EMI power converters and low self-discharge batteries make the device more flexible for worldwide operation .
